China Pearl organised an event to celebrate Middle Autumn Festival 2012 on Sunday 30th September as part of Bold Street Festival in Liverpool with dance, Chinese drums, music, singing and poetry performances from both local artists and community as well as participatory workshops in origami, lantern making and drawing.
Despite of the rain, we had about 300 audience all together watching our performances with around 50 people staying for most of the show and 10 people taking part in workshops. They were all very interested in learning more Chinese tradition and culture through our performances and workshops and gave us very positive feedback afterwards.
We had energetic Chinese drums from 24-Festival drum group opening the festival on the day, then on the main stage poetry written and performed by Y6 students from Sandbrook Primary School on the Wirral, a dance piece about the Chinese legend behind Middle Autumn Festival choreographed by Fenfen Huang and performed by Edward Swift, Fenfen Huang, Jack Hazelton, Rachel Baldwin, Daisy Radakovic and Emma Liu, beautiful Chinese harp by Yuxuan Su and celtic harp by Rebecca Sharp, singing by Fenfen Huang and Steve Macfarlane.
Many thanks to City Central Bid, Bold Street Festival, all performers, staff and audience.
